A Civil War portrays American college football in what the author believes is its purest form: two teams who play for love of the game and the honor of their schools, rather than for money or fame. John Feinstein may be the finest sports writer of all time. The symbolism of the Game so transcends the actual event, that without that understanding, some might think the Army Nave Game is only a football game. As the parent of a midshipman (and now a Field Force Officer for West Point) I can ensure the reader that this look inside the Army Navy Game captures not only the spirit of this singular event, but presents an accurate view of the depth of the meaning this event has.
